Paint Correction Services in Saratoga, NY
Saratoga Ceramic Coating provides quality paint correction services and has been serving the Saratoga area for more than 10 years. A business that started with pride in making vehicles shine required a need to be skilled at the art of paint correction as it is the basis for a superior shine and finish. When they say “it’s all in the prep work” this could not be more true when it comes to paint correction.
This multi-hour process involves first decontaminating the exterior surface of the vehicle, followed by a careful, and systematic process of cutting and buffing the vehicles existing clear coat. We work the clear coat slowly until surface scratches, factory clear coat imperfections, and etched in contaminants have been removed. This is why you need a paint correction company that will treat your vehicle with a level of detail and care that is unmatched. This process cannot be rushed.
The team at Saratoga Ceramic Coating knows the importance of doing this step right and would love the opportunity to treat your vehicle with the care it deserves.
What does Paint Correction Remove?
Car detailing professionals perform paint correction to remove hazing, swirl marks, marring, clear coat blemishes and surface scratches from a vehicle’s exterior. Saratoga Ceramic Coating uses special tools to work the clearcoat by removing microscopic layers in a very slow and delicate process until the remaining clearcoat is smooth and free of these imperfections.
Is paint correction the same as buffing?
While parts of the process may seem similar, buffing a vehicle will not remove enough imperfections to equate to the level of paint correction. This is because the multi-step processes involved in paint correction require special tools, chemicals, and most importantly, time to have it done right. Buffing a vehicle will shine up the existing clear coat and would give a nice appearance. However, it would not be long before those effects wear off. This is because not enough was done to remove imperfections from the clearcoat. A quality paint correction process will remove imperfections in the paint making it look and shine better than new. Once the paint correction process is complete, it is highly recommended to have a protective coating applied like ceramic coating to preserve the work done, provide ease of maintenance and keep the vehicle looking its best for years to come. Steps Involved In Paint Correction
Surface Preparation
It’s all in the prep work! Before a vehicle can undergo paint correction, it must be free of any removable surface contamination. A decontamination wash is usually necessary as it helps remove these contaminates and any waxes that already exist on the vehicle. This gives us a clean slate to work with. We then perform an assessment to gauge how hard, how soft, and how much clear coat is on the vehicle. This helps us determine how much we can safely remove in our paint correction processes.
Correction and Polishing
This is where most time is spent. The slow and careful process of polishing off microscopic layers of clearcoat until it is smooth, even, and free of blemished and imperfections. This is a mechanical process that utilizes special tools and chemicals to get right. Depending on the severity of the scratch or blemish, we will chose different tools of compounds to achieve results.
Protective Coating
Once the paint correction is complete, it needs to have a protective coating applied to preserve the work performed, protect the paint from UV exposure, bugs, bird droppings and other environmental contaminants. This is when ceramic coating is applied. While some may use simple waxes to protect the paint, a ceramic coating permanently bonds to the surface creating a coating over the existing clear coat that is hydrophobic, allowing for simple cleaning and maintenance for years to come.
